Jason Berry Selected to Lead McGee Air Services
Seasoned aviation executive to continue company mission to offer industry-leading ground handling, aircraft cleaning and airport mobility services
SEATTLE – June 13, 2019 – McGee Air Services Inc. announced today that Jason Berry will join the company and succeed Dean DuVall as president on June 27. With more than 20 years of experience in aviation, Jason brings a strong operational background to the company.
Since 2015, Jason has overseen Alaska Airlines’ cargo business in his role as managing director of cargo. Under his leadership, Alaska Air Cargo has grown more than 20%, generating $130 million in annual revenue. Before his current post, Jason served as director of cargo operations & compliance, with responsibility for all aspects of cargo operations at Alaska Airlines. Prior to joining Alaska, he held management positions with airline service providers supporting large cargo and ground handling operations.
Dean has led McGee since 2016, when it was formed as a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines to provide ground handling, aircraft cleaning and airport mobility services to Alaska Airlines and eventually other airlines. McGee has experienced tremendous growth under Dean. Three years after its inception, McGee now employs 1,800 team members who currently handle more than 400 flights per day at U.S. airports, including Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), San Francisco (SFO), Phoenix (PHX), Portland (PDX), San Jose (SJC) and Everett (PAE).
“I am tremendously proud of the leadership team and what we have accomplished throughout our first three years. The success of McGee is a direct reflection of their own personal commitment and sacrifice. I could not have asked for more and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a talented team. It was very important to me that we select someone who can continue to build on the foundation that is in place. Jason’s business acumen combined with his extensive background directing big, complex operations in commercial aviation make him an outstanding fit to continue what we started at McGee,” Dean said.
Having successfully launched the company, Dean is stepping away after 32 years with Alaska Air Group. Prior to joining McGee, DuVall spent 29 years with Alaska Airlines, serving as the managing director of station operations, regulatory compliance and fuel, as well as the managing director of supply chain management. He also was the managing director of IT customer support and infrastructure. He plans to depart McGee in July.
“Dean and his leadership team have done a phenomenal job of establishing McGee Air Services as a best-in-class airline services provider,” said Alaska Airlines President and COO Ben Minicucci. “We’re thrilled Jason will be at the helm to build on this strong foundation and continue McGee’s growth.”
A Washington state native, Jason obtained his bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University and earned his executive MBA at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
